ICAC’s first collaboration with FSD to share Hong Kong’s Anti-Corruption Experience in Thailand

The Hong Kong International Academy Against Corruption has been committed to collaborating with various government departments and stakeholders in the HKSAR to share Hong Kong’s integrity culture with the world. Recently (June 23 to 25), Senior Commission Against Corruption Officer Grace Yee, led a ICAC delegation to Bangkok, Thailand, and for the first time collaborated with the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (HKFSD) to organise a capacity building programme for Thailand’s Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC). The course brought together over 170 participants from different Thai anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies. Mr Zhao Mengtao, Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand, was also invited to attend the opening ceremony.
During the course, ICAC officers shared Hong Kong’s anti-corruption landscape, legal framework and practical investigative experience in a macro perspective. Experienced ICAC forensic accountant also shared with participants the ICAC’s expertise and experience in financial investigation and recovery of crime proceeds. In addition, representatives from HKFSD highlighted the close partnership with the ICAC, in a bid to share Hong Kong's success in cross-departmental anti-corruption efforts with Thailand and other regions.
The ICAC delegation, together with representatives from HKFSD, also visited H.E. Mr Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand. The team briefed the Ambassador on the ICAC’s anti-corruption strategies and latest developments in international collaboration.
