ICAC Steps Up Central Asia Cooperation through Regional Workshop on Conflicts of Interest
2026-08-05
The Hong Kong International Academy Against Corruption (HKIAAC) recently collaborated with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption of Tajikistan to hold a two-day regional training workshop in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, from 16 to 17 July. The workshop, themed "Conflicts of Interest: Legal Frameworks and Practical Enforcement", deepened anti-corruption cooperation and strengthened the connection between Hong Kong and the Central Asian region.
The workshop aimed to enhance anti-corruption practitioners’ investigative techniques and integrity management in handling conflicts of interest. The event brought together anti-corruption practitioners from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, international experts, as well as representatives from the Tajik government and local organisations. During the workshop, ICAC representatives shared practical case studies to explore how investigative practices, interview techniques, and disclosure standards embed transparency into systems and uphold accountability.
Following an earlier visit to Kazakhstan to participate in a UNODC-organised anti-corruption workshop on customs and border control, this event elevated the Academy's cooperation with Central Asia to a regional level. The Academy will continue to deepen cooperation with regional partners, actively promote international anti-corruption training, and work hand in hand with these partners to foster a culture of integrity.
