With the rapid development of technology, modus operandi of corruption offences are becoming increasingly complex, allowing criminals to more easily conceal their proceeds of crime. Therefore, financial investigations have played an even more important role in anti-corruption work.
Between 3 and 5 June, the Hong Kong International Academy Against Corruption organised a three-day anti-corruption experience sharing workshop for officers from the Corruption Eradication Commission of Indonesia and the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission. The Workshop focused on exploring effective methods for conducting financial investigations. ICAC officers and anti-corruption experts from Indonesia and Malaysia exchanged insights on anti-corruption practices. Officers from the Customs Financial Investigation Bureau of the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department and the Financial Intelligence and Investigation Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force also shared their experiences in financial investigations and tracing of crime proceeds during the course.
